Importance of Early Childhood Development

learning1The early childhood stage is crucial for a child’s future development, and during this time, parents should make extra effort to educate their children. It’s often said that we learn a majority of what we will know in life before the age of four, and it’s during this phase that children can develop the skills that will follow them into adulthood. Early childhood development can be improved with educational games including those involving reading, language, and arithmetic. With these games, children develop essential skills of creative problem solving and deduction; skills which translate into higher learning in the future. It’s important for kids to have these skills before they’re in school as they will not be able to excel without them.

With a little encouragement, you might even find that your little one has a brilliant mind. Early childhood is the most crucial time for learning. Parents, make sure you take an active role in your child’s future!

Speed Reader

speed-readingAs an avid reader, I am always looking for ways to absorb and comprehend more information. Naturally, one of the best ways to increase the amount of information that you are exposed to it by decreasing the amount of time that it takes you to read the information-this is where speed reading comes in.

When I first looked into how to increase speed reading, I thought that the answer would be simple: read faster. In fact, there are many different techniques and skill sets that can be learned to help you read information more quickly while maintaining a high level of retention. Like with most other skills, however, speed reading requires practice to hone your skills and see substantial improvement.

Mindjet for Creativity and Productivity

Setting Yourself Apart as a Leader

problem solving skillsIn today’s rough and tumble job market, it takes a unique skill set to get an edge over the competition. Employers are always looking for people with the ability to think on their feet and act decisively under stressful situations. In other words, problem solving skills are a highly desirable attribute. Luckily, problem solving is a basic part of our human instinct. Just as our ancestors had to learn to forage for food and outwit their prey on the hunt, we are charged with solving modern day problems.

In order to tap into that primal instinct of reacting quickly and correctly to a problem, we need to keep our minds active. Brain function and efficiency are not constants that can never be improved. On the contrary, the more we take part in problem solving games and theoretical scenarios, the better honed our brain is to deal with the real thing. If you’re able to think in a nimble manner and make crucial decisions, you will be viewed as a leader rather than a follower.

Doing What Comes Naturally

question-mark-chairDid you ever have a conversation and all of a sudden you found yourself off track or had many new things to talk about? Ever sit in a lecture and say to yourself, “This sounds like…..”? It’s our brain CALing! By CALing: Connecting, Associating, and Linking old to new information our brains are doing what they were designed to do, naturally.

So, based on our own unique life experiences any sound, smell, image, taste. touch or emotion CALs with lots and lots of other data. CALing is how the brain functions; it ties all our data together.

Surprise!! Our brains ability to Connect, Associate and Link is INFINITE!

So, if this happens easily and naturally, what could be the result if we worked at CALing? Is this not a way to improve your memory?

Accelerated Learning

7165WZ74WAL._SL160_We live in a hurried and stressed world. We forget to “smell the flowers” and ever to breathe. When we are stressed the last thing we want to hear is “relax”. This merely makes us more tense. We are less inclined for any self improvement ideas and we tend to do what we’ve always done. We are not receptive. Learning at this time might be nothing more than memorization.

Accelerated learning deals with 3 key ingredients; how to achieve a relaxed yet receptive mind set, and how to presentaton of information in new ways that involve both sides of the brain.

Don’t Wait Around to Improve Your Life

51R0MiJW4ML._SL160_According to tradition, people put the most thought into self improvement around New Year’s Day. It’s just convenient to plan your resolutions and goals in accordance with a brand new calendar year. Still, there’s no reason to let convention and arbitrary dates influence your life. It’s never too early to brainstorm self improvement ideas and to implement them in your everyday life.

If your goal is to feel better, try a variety of techniques designed to improve your mental and physical well-being. Exercise routines are beneficial not just for the muscles and cardiovascular system but also for peace of mind. Try doing a few more crossword puzzles than normal, reading a lengthy novel without quitting or working through a book of brainteasers. The more active you stay in mind and body, the more productive and content you will be.

Fun Memory Exercises

memory exercisesThere are several recent University studies that show that people are able to improve both the cognitive function and brain efficiency by making simple changes. These changes include incorporating memory exercises, healthy eating, physical fitness and stress reduction into their daily lives.

Best of all, the studies have shown that after only 2 weeks the brain showed increased efficiency. Both crossword puzzles and brainteasers are good memory exercises to stimulate the brain.

Build Your Own Mnemonic Device

My struggles in math class have been well documented over time. For embarrassing proof, just ask my mother about those report cards that were riddled with Cs, Ds and even the occasional failing grade. It wasn’t until 10th grade that my trigonometry teacher introduced me to the wonder of mnemonic devices. She told it to our class in the form of a joke about a squaw who hurt her foot and needed to put it in a hot water bath upon returning home.

According to the teacher, this squaw needed to “soak a toe” – which she pronounced as SOH CAH TOA. This mnemonic device was meant to enhance your memory by building a link between familiar ideas and mental touchstones. To this day I remember that sine is opposite over hypotenuse, cosine is adjacent over hypotenuse, and tangent is opposite over adjacent.
